Sometimes cleaning the kitchen can overwhelm you and stress you out. Indeed, there are a lot of cleaning chores that make this room rather difficult to handle. Such is the case if you are not armed with knowledge on how to accomplish given duties in the kitchen without trouble. Like many other tasks around your home, this one can benefit from implementing a few clever tips.
Take notes and try them out the next time you are cleaning in the kitchen:
- Stained food containers – perhaps you know a few excellent sauce recipes that make food taste like heaven. There is just one drawback to them: they leave your food containers full of stains and quite messy. It is a good thing that such a cleaning task is not difficult to deal with. All you have to do is be a little preventive about it. Before storing said sauces in a food container, make sure you rub the inside part with vegetable oil. This forms a barrier that will protect the item from stains.
- Wooden surfaces – wooden surfaces are highly absorbent and can lock in bacteria. One solution you can use to remedy the situation is baking soda. Not only does it deodorise the surfaces, but also disinfects and cleans them. Combine warm water with half a cup of baking soda and rub the solution on the wood surface. Rinse with water and blot with a clean cloth.
- Cleaning calcium deposits – hard water deposits are quite common in many household areas. If you have got such an issue with vases, your teapot or coffeepot, you needn’t despair. Using lemon is often enough to deal with stubborn stains. Squeeze fresh juice into the container and let the acidic properties do their job. No need for specialised cleaners and solutions.
- Cleaning the oven – perhaps you love the pleasant aroma of a delicious meal, and much less so when you need to tackle the aftermath of the mess in the oven. Scrubbing spills and food residue in the oven is not fun unless you use baking soda. When you mix it with water to turn into a paste, you can coat the interior of the oven and clean it this way. Just leave the paste in the oven and then wipe. It will make tough stains easy to remove, without you cleaning with dangerous chemicals.
- Cleaning ceramic tiles – do you ever feel like tiles are a magnet for splatters and stains? Cleaning a mess with just water and a sponge is hard. Instead, you should use rubbing alcohol. Not only does it eat away the gunk, but also disinfects the area and leaves it refreshed.
- Greasy dishes – what is a kitchen without greasy dishes? Although a tower of dirty dishes may seem menacing, they aren’t hard to clean. First, fill the sink with hot water and add 3-4 tbsp. white vinegar with a little dishwashing detergent. Because vinegar is acidic, it will cut through grease like nothing.
Feel free to try out any of these cleaning tips. You will find out just how great of a difference they make.
