If you have hired a house cleaner, you are definitely going to reap some real benefits. Not only will they save you a ton of time, but also deal with what you likely consider to be a very bothersome activity.
How efficient the house cleaner is, it depends on a variety of factors. From their experience with this job, to how much you want them to do, there are a few variables at play here. Yet, what is most important is that you try your best to make their job more efficient.
There are a few ways to do this:
- Tip them – as with many other professions in the service sector, tipping the person involved in them is customary. You don’t need to tip your cleaner, but you can most certainly do this. It is an excellent way to say appreciate all the efforts they are investing in their job. Needless to say, you should only encourage good effort, i.e. only when the result of their cleaning is to your liking. When that is the case, you can bet that tipping the cleaner will make them work even better.
- Become friends with them – although you may not be present at all times when the cleaner is in your home, you should try to get to know them better. This will remove the ‘client – provider of service’ barrier that often keeps the job too strictly professional. Learn their name, what they like about the work, ask them if there is anything you can do to help them. You’d be surprised how much they will appreciate it. They will be much more motivated to work that way.
- Declutter your home – another thing that can greatly boost the efficiency of your home cleaner is the lack of clutter in the rooms they are supposed to clean. Instead of spending the time to pick up the clothes, toys and everything else lying around, they could be spending their time – time you are paying for – to clean. That is only possible if you do your part and declutter the area. Remove items that can slow them down and you can expect better cleaning.
- Deal with some of the easy tasks – now, it is clear that you want a cleaner so that you don’t have to do the work yourself. However, doing a few of the easy tasks before they arrive is a fine way to make their work more focused. For instance, instead of waiting for them to pick up the clothes and put in the laundry, do this yourself. Set up the ironing board so they can just get to it right away. Addressing the little things, so they don’t have to, means they will have more time for the bigger and more important chores.
- Bring out the materials they will need – this may seem minor, but it is especially important for when you have a new cleaner. They aren’t familiar with your home, and they have no idea where you keep the cleaning products and gear. Getting that ready for them will save them a lot of time.
Without a doubt, these tips can significantly enhance the work of your house cleaner. They will be able to do much more for a lot less time, which ultimately means a better service for you.
